The Under 8’s Colts were runners up in the Alveston tournament yesterday. After finishing 4th in the group they played 1st place Alveston in the semi finals and won 1-0 to gain a place in the final against Alcester .After a goal less draw they finally lost on penalties.
We also held our season presentation afterwards back at Knight’s Lane, Ben Couki received players player and supports player of the season awards. Henry Grisenthwaite top goal scorer, Michael Dyed most improved player and Ryan Wyatt Managers player of the season.
Stratford Town Colts under 8’s finished off their league campaign with a nail biting end to end match at Alcester Town.
Both teams started the game with a 100 % league record comfortably winning all their games in each match.
Right from the off Stratford and Alcester battled it out with some excellent attacking football. The first half ended 0-0 with both sides having chances but neither managing to break the deadlock.
Stratford made changes in the second half with Lauren Jones and Sam Jalowiecka coming on in the midfield. Stratford keeper Nathan Taylor was called into action with Ben Couki and Ryan Wyatt’s defensive partnership keeping the Alcester strikers at bay.
With just under 10 minutes remaining Jaloweicka’s perfect cross met super sub Michel Dyde in the box to bury the ball in the Alcester net. With Taylor making a fantastic save in the dying seconds tipping the ball over the cross bar it was Stratford who took the victory.
Congratulations to both teams for an entertaining evenly matched contest.
